Why Should I Get My Eyes Checked?

We rely on our sight for almost everything we do in life – so why put off getting your eyes examined?

An eye test isn’t just about getting glasses, and they’re not only useful when you notice something change. Our qualified, experienced optometrists will check more than just your vision, using the latest technology and expertise to make sure all the parts of your eyes are working properly.

What Can I Expect for my Eye Test?

An eye test is designed to give a thorough understanding of your eye health and test your vision. Tests are non-invasive, totally safe and usually take up to 45 minutes to complete.

Common parts of an eye examination:

• Your optometrist will assess your ability to see things clearly in the distance and at near
• The health of the front structures of the eye will be checked with a special microscope called a slitlamp
• The health of the internal structures of the eye, such as the macula, will be checked and images may be taken with a retinal camera

Depending on your symptoms, or any concerns you may have, or any general health conditions you may have additional tests performed. These could include binocular vision evaluation, testing your eye pressure (tonometry) or performing a visual field test, which lets us gauge your peripheral vision.

Regular testing will allow us to get a thorough understanding of your eyes, detecting and preventing common eye problems and providing accurate prescriptions for glasses or contact lenses if required.
